NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

BUILDING DEPARTMENT FEES UPDATE

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Rainy River will hold a Public Meeting to consider the passing of a by-law to adopt new and amended building fees and charges under Section 7(6) of the Ontario Building Code Act, as amended.

A Public Meeting will be held by the Town of Rainy River to consider this on:

Tuesday April 7th, 2026

Rainy River Municipal Office - Council Chambers

201 Atwood Avenue

5:00 p.m.

Public participation will occur at this date/time in-person.

The public meeting will include a presentation by staff on the proposed amendments to the building permit fees, following a review of the current permit fees and the costs associated with providing service to enforce the Ontario Building Code Act with regards to issuance of building permits through Section 7 of the OBC Act, as amended. The effect will be to increase the existing fee structure. Any person present at the meeting will have the opportunity to make comments with respect to the matter.

Prescribed Information:
Information regarding the estimated costs of administering and enforcing the Building Code Act, the current and proposed building permit fees, and the rationale for the fee changes is available to the public at the Municipal Office. Additionally, the Annual Building Report and the Staff Report (as provided at the February 2^nd meeting) shall also be included in the information package.

This information is available in person, by mail or by email. Feedback is always welcome.

Oral and Written Submissions

Please be advised that all Council and Public Meetings offer in-person participation only. While written submissions are encouraged, if you would like to make oral submissions at the public meeting, you must pre-register with the Clerk by contacting 807-852-3978 or [email protected]. After all registered delegations have concluded, the public will be welcome to make additional comments and questions.
