Hannam Park Addition

The Corporation of the Town of Rainy River is seeking interested parties to provide sealed tenders to perform work to complete an addition at Hannam Park for a Stipulated Price contract in accordance with Contract Documents.

 

The Town of Rainy River is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the construction of the public restrooms located at Hannam Park. The scope of this addition includes the construction of all-season restrooms to ensure year-round accessibility and comfort for park users, as well as ensuring that the restrooms are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities.

 

Hannam Park is a popular public space, and the restrooms are a key component of the park's amenities. The municipality seeks to improve the functionality, accessibility, and overall experience for all users, including those with mobility challenges.

 

The lowest or any tender submission may not necessarily be accepted.  Firms submitting a tender shall be aware that this is a public process and under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.O. 1990.

 

Electronic bids, fully executed and dated will be received before, and not later than 1:00 pm CST, on May 1st 2025.

Rainy River RV Park Renovations

The Corporation of the Town of Rainy River is seeking interested parties to provide sealed tenders to perform work to complete renovations at the Rainy River RV Park for a Stipulated Price contract in accordance with Contract Documents.

 

The Town of Rainy River is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for renovations of the Shower House at the Town of Rainy River RV Park. The scope of this renovation includes replacing the existing keyed entry with an accessible and keyless entry system, upgrading the interior fixtures to touchless models, and replacing the existing cedar shakes roof with a more durable and weather-resistant material. The goal is to enhance accessibility, improve convenience for users, and ensure the longevity and sustainability of the RV Park's infrastructure.

Custodian Contract

 

The Corporation of the Town of Rainy River is seeking interested parties to provide quotes to perform custodian duties for the Municipal Office, the Municipal Public Works Garage and the Rainy River Health Clinic.

The successful contractor will be required to sign a (2 year) contract with the Town for provisions of services.

The contract will include:

  1. All staff must be able to provide a clear criminal records check prior to entering any municipal facility
  2. The Town will provide paper products, cleaning solutions and ice-melter
  3. A fee schedule with an hourly rate to be provided for additional services (start-up of camp ground washrooms, washroom for screen for life van, dental van, eye van)
  4. Successful contractor to provide a minimum of $2 million liability insurance
  5. Contractor to carry WSIB coverage for all staff
  6. A detailed listing of duties will be provided

Public Works Department

One (1) Vacancy

 

JOB TITLE: Probationary Labourer                                           

DEPARTMENT: Public Works

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Utility 1 personnel are responsible for the operation of mobile equipment in the construction and maintenance of municipal roads and facilities.  The employee will also be required to rotate through the Water Treatment Plant dependent on the level of training the employee has received. Training will be provided to the successful applicant as necessary.

 

REPORTS TO:     

Foreman or in their absence the Acting Foreman

 

MAJOR EQUIPMENT UTILIZED:

Dump truck, snow plow truck and attachments, sander, backhoe, bobcat with various attachments, lawn mowers, chainsaw, hand tools and maintenance tools.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the municipality’s vehicles and equipment related to roads and sidewalks, facilities, parks, trails, playgrounds and fields;

·        Perform routine maintenance on equipment and facilities;

·        Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements;

·        Complete the necessary training to obtain and maintain water treatment plant operator classification up to a Class II operator;

·        Some overtime will be required mainly in relationship to operations at the water treatment plant, snow removal, and special projects; and

·        Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman

 

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH THE FOLLOWING:

·        Ontario Secondary School Diploma (mandatory);

·        Experience as a heavy equipment operator on a variety of equipment;

·        Good interpersonal skills to work with the public, council, coworkers and outside agencies and contractors;

·        Working knowledge of municipal legislation, regulations, policies and by-laws affecting road, public works, recreational facilities, water treatment and distribution and sewer collection and treatment;

·        College diploma in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;

·        Heavy equipment Operator Certification;

·        Must be physically fit and able to climb and lift a minimum of 70 pounds;

·        First Aid, CPE and WHMIS certification;

·        Ability to follow health and safety policies, written and oral instructions and equipment operating manuals;

·        Perform manual labour

·        Competent computer skills and the ability to navigate through control displays on a variety of electronic equipment

·        Valid DZ license

·        Chainsaw certification

·        Surface Miner certification

·        Traffic Control Training certification

·        WHMIS certification

·        Class I Water Treatment Operator certification

 

WAGE:

$32.56 (CUPE 2025 rate)

Class 1 Certificate – additional $1.75 per hour

Class 2 Certificate – additional $2.00 per hour

 

This is a unionized position and governed under the articles found within the current CUPE contract.
